Shown here is the application of
Acoustography for ultrasonic inspection of a complex airplane part (see picture of real
specimen). The disbonds in the joint between the base and T-shaped
subassembly were easily detected as dark regions (A). Note the
horizontal dark band (B) is the projected image of the vertical part of
the T-shaped subassembly.
Acoustography
was also able to provide a simple way to inspect the vertical part of the T-shaped
subassembly shown in the video
clip below.
