Shown here is the ultrasonic evaluation of a 16-ply graphite/epoxy composite specimen containing impact damage using Acoustography and conventional C-scan technique at approximately 3.5 MHz. As seen in the result, the ability of Acoustography to detect the impact is comparable to the C-scan method. However, the superior resolution of Acoustography is evident with its ability to reveal the fibrous nature of the specimen.
