Shown here is the ultrasonic evaluation of a composite standard (with defects ranging from 0.125x0.125 in2 to 0.375x0.375 in2 in size) using Acoustography and conventional C-scan technique at approximately 3.5 MHz. Note the superior resolution of Acoustography where all defects were clearly detected. Moreover, Acoustography revealed presence of a defect (line on the left between the 2nd and 3rd row of defects) that was missed by conventional C-scan.
